Meet Dr. David Bates, DDS, Owner

Dr. David Bates is a second-generation dentist and proud Minneapolis native. He earned his DDS from the University of Southern California, where he focused on community service and esthetic dentistry. As co-director of the USC Mobile Dental Clinic, he helped provide care to underserved children across California. After dental school, Dr. Bates returned to the Twin Cities to work alongside his father. Nearly a decade later, he followed his vision to open Loop Dental in the heart of the North Loop — where he lives, works, and actively supports the local community.

Dr. Bates is deeply involved in organized dentistry. He was honored with the Minnesota Dental Association’s New Dentist Leadership Award in 2017 and served on its COVID-19 Task Force in 2020. He’s a member of the ADA, MDA, and Saint Paul District Dental Society, and a past president of the SPDDS Speakers’ Bureau. A lifelong learner, he graduated from the Great Lakes Implant Institute in 2015 and stays at the forefront of dental technology.

Outside of work, Dr. Bates enjoys life with his wife, three kids, and dog. He’s an avid traveler, skier, runner, and swimmer — and makes the most of every Minnesota summer!

She attended Marquette University for her undergraduate degree and the University of Minnesota for Dental School.What Dr. Herzig enjoys the most about dentistry is the ability to help people. Whether it is to manage someone’s pain, help an anxious patient get through a procedure, or give a child an enjoyable first checkup. She looks forward to identifying the needs of each patient and giving them a positive experience. Dr. Herzig is a member of the Minnesota Dental Association, American Dental Association, and Academy for General Dentistry.In her free time Dr. Herzig enjoys running around the Minneapolis lakes, visiting her family in northern Minnesota, curling up on the couch with a good book, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
